Simons-Never Cookout

On occasion, we get together with Jonathan's immediate side of the family.
Today was one of those rare events. We got some cute pictures that I thought I would share...

Kenny (Jon's brother) as master chef
Nicholas on Dylan's shoulders in the pool.
Dylan brought this giant soccer ball in the pool and began wrestling with it.
Dylan gets himself on top.
Nicholas finds it absolutely necessary to have goggles on whenever he swims.
Aaron and Kenny Jr wrestle (they are brothers and cousins to our kids)

Tiffany and David Simons with Aunt April (David's mom)
Raelynn and Amber (sisters and cousins to my kids)
Maria enjoying the nice weather
Kenny and Jonathan (brothers)
Kyle playing the guitar.

Swimming Fun

The kids favorite thing in the summer to do is swim.
We spend lots of time at the pool.

Nicholas under water...Nicholas started the summer still leary of the water. Next thing I know, I see him swimming under water. I inquired with Nicholas how he learned to swim under water (he hasn't had swim lessons since he was 18 months old). Nicholas responded with "Well Mom, I saw someone swimming under the water...so I decided to try it. Amazing!

He's telling me how much the belly flop hurt his tummy

"Jonas Brother" Siting

Dylan Simons

Nick Jonas

Joe Jonas

Kevin Jonas

We went swimming last week with the Lake family. A little boy at the City Pool in Bowling Green shyly approached Dylan and asked "Do you know that you look like one of the Jonas Brothers? (The Jonas Brothers are a music group popular on the Disney Channel).

Funny enough Dylan has been hearing this more and more lately...especially when his hair is a little longer. I've even noticed teenage girls checking him out more. (I'm not really sure I like that idea very much). Dylan sure likes the attention, though! We went online to find pictures of the Jonas brothers. Which Jonas brother do you think that Dylan looks the most like? Submit your answers in our poll :)

Thieman Family Reunion 2008

July 11th-13th
Andy and Amy were coming into town with their kiddos to visit. The Thieman Family Reunion was planned to be held at Mohican State Park. Mom reserved the Malabarm Farm Hostel for the whole family to vacation in together. We looked forward to this trip all year long.
This is the Malabar Farm State Park Hostel we stayed in.
In the rolling countryside of Richland County, Louis Bromfield, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and dedicated conservationist, created his dream -- Malabar Farm. Inspired by his love of the land, Bromfield restored the rich fertility of the farmlands and preserved the beauty of the woodlands. He built a 32-room country home, where his family, friends and neighbors could share the pleasure of life on the farm.
Jonathan and Maria relaxing on the swing

We saw several signs for the Mount Jeez Overlook. We joked all weekend about going up on the overlook and everyone saying "Jeez!" We went up at sunset and it was beautiful.
I told the boys (Parker, Dylan and Kyle) to "show me their guns". Which usually means "show me your muscles." They posed like this to be funny.

The Lake Grandchildren and Mar
Mar is never happier than when surrounded by her grandchildren.

The whole gang that stayed in the hostel....Mar, Jeff and Denise and their family,
Maria and Jonathan and their family, Andy and Amy and their family, My mom's sister Barb and Uncle Steve, My mom's other sister Vicky and her daughter Amanda, my Grandpa Newbold, and my cousin Amy and her girls.
